The Fil-Am Press Club of New York (FAPCNY) is a community of working Filipino American journalists and communication professionals in the New York tri-State area. It addresses issues, concerns and advancement of the professional Filipino American journalist. Its mission is to be the leading Filipino American professional organization for journalists that promotes accuracy, truth and ethics. FAPCNY is not part of any political, religious, or government office.
The Club was founded on September 1, 2011 in Max’s Restaurant in Jersey City, NJ, and is currently headed by Marivir R. Montebon as president. With her at the Board of Directors are: Cristina Pastor, vice president; Grace Labaguis, secretary; Momar Visaya, treasurer, and Board members: Don Tagala, Noel Pangilinan, Lindy Rosales, Lambert Parong, and Richard Rillera, past president.

Montebon is the publisher of OSM! online magazine www.justcliqit.com and Awesome in 5 Minutes YouTube videos. She has published five books, two in Cebu and three in New York City. The latest, “In the Belly of the Beast,” about human trafficking, is published by the University of San Carlos Press.

Pastor is the founding editor of the online news magazine thefilam.net She is also a co-founder and co-host of Makilala TV, the first online talk show for Filipino Americans in the New York Metropolitan Area.

Noel Pangilinan is the Editor of Open City Magazine, a publication of the Asian American Writer’s Workshop http://aaww.org/. He is an adjunct faculty at the Workshop. He is an adjunct faculty at the College of Mount Saint Vincent, teaching Filipino language and Philippine history courses.
